Rethinking an existing basement and back yard were in order for the Duchess House project. Along the way some of the main floor elements were addressed as well.

The walkout basement was redesigned to better accommodate a spare bedroom and a larger entertaining area that spilled to the exterior of the house via a set of double doors and a new indoor/outdoor fireplace. Outdoors, a platform deck was created, complete with LED lighting, but the design highlights consisted of a modern shed and a beach sand fire pit seating area. Mmm… beachy.
