Beginning life as a typical traditional London builders home the Jennifer House was morphed into a modern minimalist space. While the interior bore the brunt of the transformation, the exterior of the home was also addressed to better align with the client’s preferences while still blending into the more traditional neighbourhood. All trim was purged from the interior of the home and common area walls were eliminated while modern finishes and fixtures were introduced throughout. As this is not the client’s ‘forever’ home, a delicate balance was pursued between practical and ideal.

Sustainable elements of the project include stranded bamboo flooring, a recycled leather family room floor and repurposed kitchen cabinetry (the existing traditional kitchen was simply painted in a neutral grey).

The front exterior was largely treated cosmetically, though both the garage and front entry doors were replaced along with some decorative detailing. In the rear yard however, all grass was removed in favour of low-maintenance stone and a private retreat was achieved on a less than wallet-busting budget.
