Set idyllically on a two acre plot of land that directly overlooks Lake Erie, the form of the Wave House was quite obviously inspired by the nearby waves. The house will be oriented to take full advantage of the lake vista with glazing along most of the rear wall. In addition a slightly raised pool will provide an infinity perspective from within the pool and from seating positions within the living area of the home.
To compensate for the southern sun exposure, large overhangs have been utilized to strategically control heat gain. In addition, the pitch of the roof/ceiling and strategically placed windows will create convection, naturally evacuating warm air from the home and limiting the need for air conditioning. Other sustainable elements such as geothermal, grey water use, etc. are currently also being investigated.
Still in development, final renderings of the interior and exterior of the Wave House will be posted soon.
