This project began as several have, with a preview of the space before the clients made the decision to purchase and renovate it. Our initial task was to look past the current kitchen and the frigid feel of the space and to convey our convictions around the home's potential. After some convincing arguments, the task of eliminating all traces of the '80s to create a rich, contemporary design ensued. To accommodate two vibrant young children and a pair of equally busy parents, the layout needed to remain open and accessible.
While the entire home was treated cosmetically, the kitchen and en suite bathroom were attacked in earnest. A cushiony cork floor, eco-conscious reconstituted ‘teak’ veneer cabinetry, and coordinating granite star in the kitchen while a reconstituted ‘zebrawood’ veneered floating vanity, abundant ceramic and glass tile, and a shower complete with multiple water sources and a trough drain create an en suite oasis.
